DJ Premier is an American DJ and record producer from Houston, Texas, who is widely considered the greatest hip-hop producer of all time, responsible for definitive albums by Nas, Jay-Z, Notorious B.I.G., and countless others through his Gang Starr Foundation. His signature chopped-vocal sample style and crisp, minimal boom-bap production became the template for New York hip-hop in the 1990s. He continues to produce, DJ, and record with his Group Starr partner Guru's legacy projects.
