Frankie Knuckles was an American DJ and producer from Chicago who is universally known as the "Godfather of House Music," having developed the distinctive sound that would become house music during his residency at The Warehouse club from 1977 to 1982. His edits, re-rubs, and original productions became the template for all house music that followed, and his influence on global dance culture is incalculable. He received a Grammy Trustee Award in 2005 before his death in 2014.
