Juan Atkins is an American DJ and producer from Detroit widely considered the inventor of techno music, having coined the term and developed the genre's original blueprint through his work in the early 1980s as part of the trio with Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson known as "the Belleville Three." His Model 500 alias produced landmark records like "No UFOs" and "Night Drive (Thru-Babylon)" that defined the sound of Detroit techno. He continues to tour and produce extensively.
