High altitude, even higher energy — Bogotá after dark
Bogotá sits at 2,600 metres above sea level, and the altitude only seems to intensify the energy of one of Latin America's most dynamic nightlife scenes. The Zona Rosa and Parque de la 93 districts house upscale clubs and cocktail bars, while Chapinero's bohemian streets are home to LGBTQ+ venues, electronic clubs and indie music bars. Colombian salsa, cumbia and electro-urban music fill the air, and Bogotá's Thursday-through-Saturday party culture is among the most passionate on the continent.

Zona Rosa around Calle 82 is Bogotá's upscale nightlife district, with bars, clubs and restaurants open late every night. Chapinero Alto is the city's most creative and LGBTQ+-friendly area. Parque de la 93 has a more family-friendly bar scene that transitions to clubs late at night.
Vintrash is Bogotá's most celebrated alternative and electronic club. El Coq is a sophisticated cocktail bar and club in Zona Rosa, Theatron in Chapinero is one of Latin America's largest LGBTQ+ complexes with multiple themed rooms, and Armando Records in Zona Rosa is the go-to for live music and DJs.
Bogotá clubs are licensed until 3 am on weekdays and as late as 5–6 am on weekends. The city has made significant efforts to support its nighttime economy, and venues in Chapinero often push the boundaries of official closing times.
Bogotá has improved dramatically in safety over the past decade. Stick to established nightlife zones like Zona Rosa and Chapinero, use Uber or a trusted taxi app rather than hailing cabs on the street, and avoid displaying expensive items. Travel with others, particularly when leaving clubs in the early hours.
