Bangla Road beats, beach clubs and Thailand's wildest island nights
Phuket has earned its reputation as Southeast Asia's undisputed party island through decades of relentless nightlife innovation. Bangla Road in Patong remains the pulsing artery of it all — a neon-soaked pedestrian strip of open-front clubs, live music bars and go-go venues that operates around the clock during high season. But Phuket's nightlife landscape has diversified dramatically: the luxury beach clubs of Surin and Kamala cater to a sophisticated international crowd, Phuket Old Town's craft cocktail scene has emerged as an alternative to the Patong frenzy, and mega-clubs like Illuzion host internationally touring DJs to crowds of thousands.

Bangla Road in Patong is Phuket's nightlife epicentre — a 400-metre pedestrian street lined with clubs, bars and live music venues operating from early evening until dawn. For a more upscale experience, the beach clubs at Surin and Kamala (including Catch Beach Club and Café del Mar) deliver sunset cocktails and poolside DJ sets. Phuket Old Town is the choice for craft cocktails in heritage Sino-Portuguese shophouses.
Illuzion is Phuket's largest superclub, fitting 5,000 people across multiple floors with international DJ bookings. Seduction Beach Club & Disco in Patong is a classic multi-room club. Café del Mar Phuket at Kamala Beach is the island's most celebrated sunset beach club. Sky Beach Club at Kata Rocks offers stunning clifftop views alongside its DJ nights.
Phuket clubs in the entertainment zones of Patong are often permitted to operate around the clock, with Bangla Road bars technically having no fixed closing time during high season. In practice, most clubs reach peak capacity between midnight and 3 am and wind down by 5–6 am. The beach clubs close earlier, typically around midnight.
Phuket's high season runs from November through April, when the Andaman Sea is calm and dry. The island's party scene reaches its peak in December and January, coinciding with European winter holidays. The Full Moon-adjacent beach parties draw large crowds. Low season (May–October) is quieter but local clubs still operate, with lower prices and smaller crowds.
