History

Founded in 1879 by Frank Huber, the café passed through several ownerships before settling into the Louie family's stewardship in the 20th century, who preserved its historic character through Portland's many transformations. The Spanish Coffee tradition was introduced in the 1970s and has since become one of the city's most recognisable bar rituals, featured in countless travel guides and local lore.
