Circo Voador (Flying Circus) is one of Rio de Janeiro's most beloved cultural institutions, an outdoor concert venue in Lapa that has been hosting live music since 1982. The venue's open-air stage, with its distinctive circus tent aesthetic, has hosted virtually every major Brazilian artist as well as countless international acts. Circo Voador is where Rio's music lovers come to see live concerts under the stars, and its programming spans rock, electronic, samba, and everything in between.
Founded in 1982 as part of Rio's alternative cultural movement, Circo Voador was one of the first venues in Brazil to embrace rock and alternative music. After a period of closure, it reopened in 2004 and has since reclaimed its position as one of the most important live music venues in the country.
