About Tresor

Tresor is one of the most historically significant nightclubs in the world. Founded in 1991 in the vault of the former Wertheim department store in the newly reunified Berlin, Tresor was one of the first clubs to bring Detroit techno to European audiences. The current venue — opened in 2007 in a former power plant in Mitte — preserves the spirit of the original while providing a larger and more technically sophisticated space. Tresor's programming remains uncompromisingly underground, with a focus on Detroit and Berlin techno.

History

Founded by Dimitri Hegemann in 1991, Tresor was one of the first clubs to open in the former East Berlin following reunification. The original vault — in the basement of the Wertheim department store — became one of the most iconic spaces in the history of electronic music, hosting early performances by Jeff Mills, Juan Atkins, and Derrick May. The current venue opened in 2007 after the original location was demolished.
