Control Club is the spiritual home of Bucharest's underground music scene, a two-floor venue in the Old Town that has been championing alternative, indie and electronic music since 2006. The lower floor hosts club nights and electronic DJ sets, while the upper bar area provides a more relaxed setting for conversations and craft drinks. Control's booking policy consistently favours interesting and emerging artists over commercial headliners, making it the venue of choice for Bucharest's music-obsessed creative community. Its nightly programme spans post-punk, alternative electronic, indie and experimental genres with occasional international bookings that punch well above their budget.
Control opened in 2006 as a reaction to the growing commercial homogeneity of Bucharest's nightlife, establishing itself as a sanctuary for alternative music and counter-culture. It has outlasted many more well-funded venues by staying resolutely true to its musical vision and maintaining a loyal community of regulars who have grown up with the club.
