Golden Pudel Club is one of the most iconic small venues in European club culture — a rickety wooden structure on the banks of the Elbe that has been hosting radical electronic music and subculture events since 1994. Co-founded by Schorsch Kamerun of Die Goldenen Zitronen, the Pudel operates more as a cultural institution than a commercial venue, placing artistic integrity above profit at every turn. Its capacity of around 150 means every night feels like a secret gathering, and the programming — spanning experimental electronic music, noise, performance art, and punk — reflects a commitment to the genuinely avant-garde.
Golden Pudel was founded in 1994 by members of the Hamburg punk scene who wanted a space free from commercial pressure. It survived a devastating fire in 2016 and was lovingly rebuilt by the global community it had inspired, reopening to enormous celebration in 2017.
