About Rote Sonne
Rote Sonne — 'Red Sun' — is Munich's answer to the intimate techno club format perfected in Berlin and Hamburg. With a capacity of around 200, every night here is close and intense, the Funktion-One sound system filling the room with extraordinary clarity and power. The booking policy targets the same artists playing Berghain and Fabric, but in a setting where you're never more than a few metres from the DJ booth. Rote Sonne has established Munich as a destination for serious electronic music rather than merely a city famous for beer halls and lederhosen.
History
Rote Sonne opened in 2012, at a time when Munich was undergoing a significant expansion of its underground club scene. It quickly became the benchmark for quality in the city, attracting international artists who appreciated the venue's serious approach to electronic music.
