The Oltrarno neighbourhood across the Ponte Vecchio is Florence's liveliest nightlife zone — particularly the streets around Piazza Santo Spirito and Via dei Serragli, which fill with Florentine students and international visitors from aperitivo hour through midnight. Santa Croce's bars around the piazza are equally animated. For rooftop aperitivo, the hotel terraces around Piazza della Repubblica offer unbeatable panoramas.

Yab Club near Piazza della Repubblica is Florence's most central and established nightclub, popular with students and tourists. Tenax in Peretola is the city's leading electronic music and techno club with a committed local following. Discoteque Space Electronic near the station is one of Florence's longest-running clubs. Volume in Oltrarno is the area's best bar for live music and late-night drinking.

Florence clubs typically operate until 3–4 am on Fridays and Saturdays, in line with Tuscany's licensing framework. Aperitivo bars begin winding down around midnight, but the clubs and late-night bars around Santa Croce and Oltrarno keep going until 2–3 am. Summer outdoor venues may operate later with special licences.
