About Commodore Ballroom

The Commodore Ballroom is Vancouver's most cherished venue, a 1929 Art Deco heritage ballroom that has hosted virtually every significant musical act to pass through the city. Its famous sprung dance floor — a suspended hardwood surface that gives a gentle bounce to every step — is legendary among regular concertgoers. The 1,000-capacity room strikes the perfect balance between intimacy and the ability to host major touring artists.

History

The Commodore Ballroom opened in 1929 as a dance hall and supper club and has operated almost continuously ever since, surviving the full sweep of 20th-century musical history from big bands to punk to contemporary electronic music. It is one of Canada's oldest continuously operating music venues.
