Bios is the beating heart of Athens's alternative cultural scene, a multi-space complex in the Kerameikos district that operates as a club, cinema, café-bar, gallery, and event space simultaneously. The rooftop terrace — one of Athens's most beloved outdoor drinking and dancing spaces — offers views over the city and hosts some of the finest electronic music events in Greece. Bios's programming is genuinely eclectic, embracing everything from experimental electronics to film screenings and political events. It has been central to the development of Athens's creative community since 2002 and weathered the economic crisis by deepening its roots in the city's cultural fabric.
Bios was founded in 2002 in a former shop in Kerameikos and quickly grew into one of the most important cultural institutions in Athens. Its hybrid model — part club, part cinema, part gallery, part community space — was ahead of its time and has since been replicated across the city. Bios survived the Greek financial crisis through community support and diversified programming.
