Emo's Austin is one of the Red River Cultural District's most storied venues, a gritty alternative music institution that has nurtured Austin's punk, indie and experimental scenes for over three decades. The venue's move to a larger Red River location in 2011 gave it a bigger stage without sacrificing the underground energy that made it famous. Its programming ranges from touring national acts to local bands making their first real steps.
Emo's opened on 6th Street in 1992 and quickly became Austin's premier alternative music venue before relocating to Red River Street in 2011. The original Emo's was the launching pad for numerous major indie and punk artists.
