Stubb's Waller Creek Amphitheater is arguably Austin's most beloved live music institution, a sprawling outdoor complex on the edge of the Red River Cultural District that has hosted everyone from Bob Dylan to Foo Fighters. The open-air main stage hosts major touring acts while the smaller indoor room and patio stage keep music going every night of the week. The attached Stubb's BBQ serves legendary Texas brisket before and during shows.
C.B. Stubblefield opened the original Stubb's Bar-B-Q in Lubbock in the 1960s before moving to Austin in 1977. The current Waller Creek Amphitheater site has been operating as a live music venue since 1996 and is now listed on the Register of Historic Places.
