Lakota is one of the longest-running club venues in the UK, opening in 1991 and becoming an integral part of Bristol's identity as a dance music city. The venue's three rooms — each with its own sound system and aesthetic — allow for diverse programming across house, techno, drum and bass, and everything in between. Lakota's outdoor area and distinctive industrial interior have made it a favourite filming location and a genuine landmark in British club culture. It has survived economic downturns, venue closures, and changing trends by staying true to its underground ethos.
Lakota opened in 1991 during the height of the UK's second summer of love hangover, and immediately became Bristol's home for serious dance music. Over more than three decades, it has nurtured generations of Bristol DJs and dancers, maintaining its relevance through consistent quality booking and unwavering dedication to underground culture.
