A38 occupies a converted 1968 Ukrainian stone-carrier ship permanently moored on the Danube near the Petőfi Bridge, creating one of Europe's most distinctive and atmospheric live music venues. The ship's multiple levels include a concert hall, a restaurant, and an open deck that offers spectacular views of the Danube on summer evenings. Programming is genuinely eclectic, covering rock, jazz, electronic, and world music, with a strong emphasis on emerging international acts that make their Budapest debut here. The venue has been internationally recognised as one of the world's best live music spaces.
The Artemovsk ship was built in 1968 in Ukraine and worked the Danube for decades before being converted into a venue and permanently moored in Budapest in 2003. The A38 team transformed it into a fully functional concert venue and restaurant while preserving the ship's industrial character. It quickly became one of Budapest's most beloved cultural institutions and a benchmark for repurposed venue design worldwide.
