Lux Frágil is the most important nightclub in Portugal and one of the finest in Europe. Located in a converted warehouse on the banks of the Tagus river near Santa Apolónia station, the club is co-owned by actor John Malkovich and has been at the centre of Lisbon's cultural life since 1998. The venue's three floors — a main dance floor, a bar floor, and a rooftop terrace overlooking the river — create a complete nightlife experience. Lux books the best international electronic music artists and maintains a programming standard that rivals any club in the world.
Opened in 1998 by Manuel Reis and John Malkovich in a converted cold storage warehouse, Lux Frágil was conceived as a venue that would bring world-class club culture to Lisbon. It quickly became the city's most important cultural institution, hosting artists from Ricardo Villalobos to Aphex Twin, and its influence on Portuguese nightlife and culture has been immeasurable.
