About Village Underground

Village Underground is one of London's most distinctive music venues. The Shoreditch space — topped with four repurposed London Underground carriages that serve as creative workspaces — hosts a mix of electronic music events, live concerts, and art installations. The venue's programming is genuinely eclectic, spanning everything from underground techno to indie rock to jazz. Village Underground hosted SXSW London events in April 2026, cementing its position as one of the city's most culturally significant venues.

History

Opened in 2007 by Auro Foxcroft, Village Underground was designed as a creative hub that would combine music, art, and workspace. The repurposed Underground carriages on the roof — a distinctive feature of the Shoreditch skyline — have become one of the most photographed architectural details in East London.
