About Gramps

Gramps was the soul of Wynwood for over a decade. The unpretentious bar and music venue on NW 24th Street was famous for its eclectic programming — everything from disco and house to indie rock and drag shows — and its genuinely welcoming atmosphere. Unlike the velvet-rope culture of South Beach, Gramps was a place where artists, locals, and visitors mixed freely. The venue closed permanently on January 4, 2026, marking the end of an era for Miami's creative community.

History

Opened in 2012 by Vaughan Dunn and partners, Gramps was one of the first venues to open in Wynwood before the neighbourhood's transformation into a global art destination. It played a crucial role in establishing Wynwood's identity as a place for authentic cultural experiences rather than tourist spectacle. Its closure in January 2026 was mourned by Miami's nightlife community.
