Parties in Glasgow

Sauchiehall Street is Glasgow's most concentrated nightlife strip, with clubs and bars running for several blocks. The Merchant City draws a slightly older, more style-conscious crowd, while Finnieston has become the go-to area for craft bars and live music in a more relaxed setting.

Sub Club on Jamaica Street is one of the UK's most respected underground techno venues. SWG3 hosts large-scale electronic events in a converted industrial space, Garage is the city's biggest mainstream club, and The Arches (now Wasps) is a beloved former space still celebrated in city folklore.

Most Glasgow clubs are licensed until 3 am, with late-night extensions taking some venues to 5 am. Scotland's licensing laws are more restrictive than England's, so checking individual venue closing times is advisable.

Glasgow has an extraordinarily fertile DIY music culture stretching back to the post-punk era, producing acts from Simple Minds to Chvrches. The city has more live-music venues per capita than anywhere else in the UK, and tickets remain among the most affordable in Europe.
