About Milda

Milda takes its name from the colloquial Latvian nickname for the Freedom Monument visible from its windows, and channels a similar national pride into its drinks programme. The bar's mixologists champion Latvian ingredients — Riga Black Balsam, local birch sap, foraged herbs and berries — creating cocktails that tell the story of Latvia's landscape and culture. The interior design, inspired by the Art Nouveau architecture of the surrounding boulevards, balances Baltic restraint with genuine warmth. Milda operates as a cocktail bar by evening and a brunch spot by day, making it one of Riga's most versatile and beloved hospitality destinations.

History

Milda opened in 2014 as part of a wave of craft cocktail bars that transformed Riga's drinking culture. Its founder spent years bartending in London before returning to Latvia with a mission to create a world-class cocktail programme rooted in Latvian identity.
