Creative cocktail bar interior with moody lighting at night
Craft cocktails, street art and late-night energy in the neighbourhood that put modern Málaga on the map.

Unlike the tourist-facing Centro Histórico or the beach club strip of La Malagueta, SOHO operates on a different frequency — it's a neighbourhood in the middle of becoming something, and you can feel it. The streets still have the raw energy of a place that hasn't been fully discovered. Five years from now it will probably be overpriced. Right now it's just right.
Brunch & Cake on Calle Fresca is the neighbourhood's anchor bar — excellent cocktails, good food until late, and a terrace that catches the afternoon sun. El Pimpi, while technically in the historic centre nearby, is a Málaga institution that SOHO-dwellers treat as their own — a sprawling wine bar inside a historic townhouse where barrels signed by Picasso (who was born in Málaga) line the walls.
The digital nomad influx has brought excellent wine culture to Málaga. Silo Gastrobar near the port serves natural wines from small Andalusian producers alongside contemporary small plates. Bodega El Patio on Calle Bolsa is the old-school counterpoint — a traditional wine cave with barrels stacked to the ceiling, cheap fino on tap, and no playlist.
By 1 AM, SOHO thins out slightly as people move to the beach strip or the centre's clubs. But several bars run a proper late shift: Sala Tinchera occasionally hosts live acts and DJ nights; Bar Anker near the Mercado de Salamanca is the neighbourhood local that goes until whenever.
SOHO sits between the Alameda Principal (the main boulevard) and the port, just west of the historic centre — a 10-minute walk from the cathedral.
Yes — it's Málaga's most interesting neighbourhood for craft bars, street art and nightlife culture without the tourist excess of the beach resort strip.
