Soup Kitchen has been one of Manchester's most beloved small venues since 2011, a basement space beneath a café-bar in the Northern Quarter that prioritises grassroots music over commercial ambition. The intimate 300-capacity club hosts a mix of electronic music nights and live shows, with a particular reputation for breaking emerging artists who later move to larger stages. Soup Kitchen's combination of a quality downstairs venue with an excellent food and drinks offer upstairs has made it a go-to destination at all hours for Manchester's creative community. The programming is consistently adventurous without being inaccessible.
Soup Kitchen opened in 2011 as part of the Northern Quarter's development into Manchester's creative neighbourhood. The venue was conceived from the start as a community space that would programme music for love rather than commercial calculation. It has since launched the Manchester careers of numerous international artists and serves as an important development stage for local talent.
