About Cielo

Cielo is one of New York's most beloved underground clubs. The intimate Meatpacking District venue holds around 300 people and features a sunken dance floor that creates an immersive, womb-like atmosphere. The Funktion-One sound system is widely considered one of the finest in the city, and the programming — exclusively deep house, techno, and electronic — reflects a genuine commitment to musical quality. Cielo has hosted virtually every major name in underground electronic music over its two-decade history.

History

Opened in 2003 by Nicolas Matar, Cielo was designed as a counterpoint to the bottle-service megaclubs that dominated New York nightlife at the time. The venue's intimate size and uncompromising musical programming quickly made it a favourite with the city's electronic music community. It has survived the closure of many contemporaries and remains one of the most consistent and respected clubs in New York.
