Goa Club has been the standard-bearer for underground electronic music in Rome since its founding in 1992, making it one of Italy's longest-running techno institutions. The club's industrial setting in the Ostiense district provides a suitably raw backdrop for its uncompromising programming. Goa has been instrumental in bringing international techno culture to Italy, hosting artists from Berghain's resident roster and Detroit's underground long before Rome was considered a serious clubbing city. Its dedicated crowd and consistently high booking standards have kept it relevant through three decades.
Founded in 1992 by a group of Italian electronic music pioneers, Goa Club was instrumental in establishing Rome's credibility on the international techno circuit. It took its name and inspiration from the Goa trance scene of the early 1990s, though its programming quickly evolved toward harder-edged techno and house. The club has mentored generations of Italian DJs and producers.
