Debaser is Stockholm's most important alternative music venue, a concert hall and club that has been central to the city's independent music scene since its first incarnation opened in 2003. The Strand location on Södermalm's waterfront combines an excellent concert programme with club nights spanning indie, alternative, electronic and hip-hop. Debaser has championed Swedish independent music while also bringing significant international touring acts to Södermalm, playing a key role in establishing the island as Stockholm's creative alternative to the Stureplan glamour.
Debaser was founded in 2003 and quickly became the anchor of Södermalm's alternative cultural scene. Multiple venue moves have not diminished its cultural centrality — the brand has maintained its identity and community through relocations by staying true to its music-first values and its connection to the Södermalm neighbourhood.
